Lobbying for Insurance Fairness

Attorney Andrew Williams and State Representative Jan Angel met today to begin working on insurance fairness legislation.

These days insurers are increasingly unwilling to pay fair and reasonable amounts to settle claims. Unfortunately, the law does not hold insurers accountable to the public unless the insurer has a contract with the consumer. In those situations where an innocent person is injured and that innocent consumer makes a claim against the at fault party’s insurer there is no protection against the insurer making low-ball settlement offers. The law provides no protection from these insurers making up facts or citing nonexistent law as an excuse for not paying a claim.

Mr. Williams and Representative Angel are investigating changes in the law to make insurers accountable for such practices, but to do so in a way that makes sure insurers are not going to face an avalanche of frivolous lawsuits that will raise insurance rates. The Law Offices of Harold D. Carr, P.S.  is committed to the fair and reasonable resolution of disputes, and to hold insurers accountable for the fair resolution.
